Living in God’s Abundance
Key Verse John 10:10: So again Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who came before me are thieves and bandits; but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:7-10 RSV
Jeanne and I are experiencing the abundant life. In year 51 of marriage we have a blessed life, relationship and family. We believe the John 10:10 verse speaks to a spiritual abundant life that has a “trickle down” effect on how we approach worship, family & relationships, finances, health and leisure regardless of victories or setbacks. Being imperfect stewards of God’s love, we find that we often have to pray for grace, mercy, forgiveness, and confession of our own sin. The Good Shepherd is always there. This abundant life is available to all who ask for, and seek it.
Abundance defined in part: over & above; overflowing; more than one could expect in quality and quantity. John 10 reveals God’s love provided through the Good Shepherd for today’s living, and, eternity. This is abundance of peace, joy and love that knows not fear.
In life coaching and career counsel, I have seen this verse bring new resolve to men, women and couples, to seek God’s version of the abundant life when sin, loss of hope or a separation from God has occurred. Are you seeking that abundant life? Take a quick read of Psalm 23 – and know God cares for you.
Sustainability is maintained by staying in touch with the Shepherd through scripture, prayer, relationships and serving . It is choosing to put both feet in His Kingdom and not leaving 1 foot in the world. My personal life verse doubles down on the principle: Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 RSV
I thank God every day for Jeanne, our family, friends, the people we are privileged to serve & His love.
. Have a great day.
