God’s Servant & Leader to Homeless Men
Today a dedicated leader in serving homeless men was celebrated for his work in building Congregations for the Homeless in Bellevue, WA. Steve Roberts is passing the baton to the next generation leadership in the person of David Johns Bowling. For 12 years Steve has been dedicated to bringing services and housing to homeless men in Kirkland, Bellevue, Issaquah and other Eastside areas. Under his watch, and as he says, “with God’s help” and many volunteers, CFH went from no men in housing to over 70 in 9 rental houses plus some apartments and management of 4 shelters. From a staff of 1 there are now 25 including case managers, shelter managers and admin staff.
Medical, physical, emotional and spiritual services have been provided to hundreds of men during Steve’s tenure. He moves on to undertake a major project to house more men on a 24/7 basis under the banner of CFH. Working with churches, government agencies and staff, Steve has molded a consortium that has made a significant inroad into getting homeless men into a productive living mindset and housing. It has been my privilege to serve with Steve (L) who also is a member of my Living Perspectives Board. God speed to him and his supportive wife Charlotte and family.
