Moving Forward
A recent discussion with my 9 year-old granddaughter about improving her skills in soccer and softball, ended with some grey hair wisdom to her: Each day say to yourself, “I am better today than I was yesterday, but not as good as I will be tomorrow.”
As we enter Easter week, I generally find myself wondering if that statement to a granddaughter applies to me in my relationship with God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I seek to engage with the Lord each day and strive that my relationship is better than it was yesterday. But what about getting ready for tomorrow, today!
“Don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today.” Ben Franklin. In preparing for tomorrow, I desire to invite God to be part of my time, relationships, ministry, finances and health. In that regard I apply an acronym: CROSS. This is my imperfect, but daily approach to tomorrow:
Confession-present my shortcomings and sins to the Lord-why wouldn’t I if I am forgiven?
Repent-definition: a change in my thinking when deviating from God’s best in relationships or decisions–seems to be a daily need for me
Obedience-continue to seek/understand wisdom in the bible and act/think accordingly-can be spotty at times
Supplication-present my desires and need for direction to God in prayer-gets easier every day
Submission-present my heart, mind, will, emotions and body to God each day-took work to make it a habit
For me, peace, joy and love seem to hang around when I stick to the above. He is Risen!
